Growing up in the Canton of Basel-Landschaft, Krattiger completed a commercial apprenticeship and later worked as a managing director in the textile industry. He has lived in Wettingen since 1960. After his retirement, he began making reliefs, an activity he had already learned about in district school. Between 1990 and 2000 he made more than 20 reliefs – mainly of regions of the Swiss midlands with characteristic geographical features.
