Georges Grosjean (1921–2002) [1]
Grosjean, who grew up in Biel, studied in Berne and Zurich from 1940 and obtained his higher teaching qualification in history, Latin and geography in 1948. From 1947 to 1951 he worked as a high school teacher. In 1954 he habilitated, received a lectureship at the University of Bern in 1958 and became professor of cultural and economic geography there in 1963. From 1958 to 1969 he was part-time director of the Swiss Alpine Museum in Bern. His research activities focused on settlement geography, spatial planning, cartography and military history.
